 MANAGING SELF AND TEAM
The overall objective of this module is to build and develop students’ competency in leadership and teamwork skills. The course employs both a theoretical and an experiential learning approach with the aim of fulfilling the objectives as outlined below. Students will gain knowledge and skills about leadership development and team-building skills based on theories, principles, concepts, application, exercises/class activities, self-assessments/ instruments, and experiential learning.
MANAGING THE RETAIL ORGANIZATION
The world of retailing is a complex and exciting one, in which students have always played a part as shoppers. In this course, students get a chance to learn what lies on the other side, as we uncover the challenges and global trends in the industry, as well as tricks-of-the-trade of the retail seller. Students can look forward to learning store and non-store retailing, location and site selection, merchandising, pricing and margin planning, store management, layout and visual merchandising, as well as internal and external promotions.
EMPLOYMENT RELATIONS AND EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT
Human resource management is premised on the idea that organizational success stems from the ability to extract a greater degree of employee commitment towards corporate objectives, rather than merely competing on price or product quality. The implication is the way employees choose to undertake their jobs, and crucially, the extent of ‘discretionary effort’ they are prepared to expend.

               ONLINE RETAIL
This course is aims to develop knowledge of contemporary digital retail management issues at the strategic level. Students are exposed to the way digital retailing works, specifically by observing its key activities and relationships. The course will provide an academic underpinning to the above through the application of retailing theory, research and digital technology, including the online retail operations.
PRICING IN RETAILING
Smart Pricing is the core of this course. It introduces many innovative approaches to pricing, as well as the research and insights that went into their creation. Filled with illustrative examples from the business world, students will learn about innovative ways to price the products and services in the era digital, including how Google and other high-tech firms have used pricing to remake whole industries.
HR ANALYTICS FOR BUSINESS DECISION
This course introduces the theory, concepts, and business application of human resources research, data, metrics, systems, analyses, and reporting. Students will develop an understanding of the role and importance of HR analytics, and the ability to track, store, retrieve, analyse and interpret HR data to support decision making. Students will use applicable benchmarks/metrics to conduct research and statistical analyses related to Human Resource Management, and prepare reports to present findings and recommendations.
