 MEDICAL SCIENCE GROUP
Our Medical Science Group (MSG) is the finest example of cross-sector collaboration in medical research, service, and education. MSG drives the synergy between Siloam Hospitals Group (SHG), Mochtar Riady Institute for Nanotechnology (MRIN), Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Nursing.
The research arm, Mochtar Riady Institute for Nanotechnology (MRIN), is the only private-owned cancer research institute in Indonesia. Its primary focus is research into advances in early diagnosis and treatment for cancer, particularly liver and colon cancer, one of the most common cancer in the world. MRIN has five divisions of research: Molecular Epidemology, Proteomic, Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNP), Immunology, and Genomic. All divisions are equipped with the most advanced instruments.
In educating world-class medical professionals, UPH Faculty of Medicine offers an innovative Problem-Based Learning curriculum that integrates basic medical & clinical sciences and skills within block systems. Our school prepares the students for lifelong self-directed learning and encourages early patient contact and participation in clinical care.
UPH Faculty of Nursing offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Students pursue their ‘hands-on’ experience both in the primary and secondary sectors in Government and Siloam Hospitals. The curriculum is developed in collaboration with the University of Melbourne and in-line with the regulation of Indonesian National Nursing Higher Education standards.
In collaboration with Siloam Hospitals Group and the Mochtar Riady Institute for Nanotechnology, UPH has established the Medical Science Group to promote Evidence-Based Clinical Practices, Medical Education, Clinical Teaching and Research.
