Five international program?s students year 2007 will be heading to UoN on July 2009. This dual-degree program is a part of the Food Technology Department?s international program curriculum
The Deputy Head of Food Technology Department, Julia Ratna Wijaya, is giving explanation to the students’ parents about the dual degree program.
Lippo Village (9/6) ? Food Technology Department of Universitas Pelita Harapan?s Industrial Technology Faculty (FTI-UPH) organized a dual-degree program with Food Science and Human Nutrition Program, School of Environmental and Life Sciences, University of Newcastle (UoN) ? Australia. Five international program?s students year 2007 will be heading to UoN on July 2009.
This dual-degree program is a part of the Food Technology Department?s international program curriculum, cooperating with Food Science and Human Nutrition Program – UoN. The program runs a (2+1+1) pattern, in which the students spend two years in UPH, one year in UoN, and another year back in UPH.
The students who take this program will receive two degrees in four years, which are Bachelor Degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition (BFSHN) and Sarjana Teknologi Pangan (S.TP).
Food Science and Human Nutrition Program ? UoN offers an education that is focused in the area food nutrition. This complements Food Technology education in UPH which is focused in the area of food processing.
Head of Food Technology Department, Nuri Arum Anugrahati said, ?The combination of these to kind of educational focus will improve students? abilities so that they can have broader knowledge and working opportunities in the field of food technology.?
The Deputy Head of Food Technology Department, Julia Ratna Wijaya, gave similar statement, ?This cooperation can give benefits to the students because they can gain more knowledge and skills in a shorter period of time.?
In its second year, the dual-degree program has been attended by 12 UPH students in total. Seven out of 41 international program students year 2006 in the Food Technology Department has experienced UoN?s education for one year. This year five out of 37 international program students year 2007 will be following on July.
