Lippo Village, August 23, 2016 – Otoritas Jasa Keuangan (OJK) chose Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) as the place for its first launching of the Financial Literacy Books Series for University Level. The event was held at the UPH Grand Chapel and was attended by Muliaman D. Hadad, Ph.D., Chairman of the OJK Board of Commissioners; Prof. Intan Ahmad, Ph.D., Director General for Learning and Student Affairs of the Research and Technology and Higher Education Ministry of the Republic of Indonesia; Dr. Agus Sugiarto, Head of OJK Literacy and Financial Inclusion; Dr. Kusumaningtuti S. Setiono, Board?s member for Consumer Education and Protection, together with Dr. (Hon) Jonathan L. Parapak, M.Eng.Sc., the Rector of UPH, representatives from the POKJA team, lecturers as well as the students of Business School UPH.
The event was started with an opening speech from the Rector of UPH, Dr. (Hon) Jonathan L. Parapak, M.Eng.Sc. In his speech, he conveyed his gratitude and appreciation for OJK, who had chosen UPH as the place for its first launching of the Financial Literacy Books Series for University Level.
?Thank you for OJK, who had chosen UPH as a place for the first launching of these books, I, myself think that this event is still a part of the 23rd UPH Festival, because an activity like this is very useful and it?s very important to give the right information on financial literacy, for a better Indonesia,? said the Rector.
Aside from an opening speech from the Rector, at the occasion, Dr. Kusumaningtuti S. Setiono also gave a brief explanation about the books.
?This series has been tested in 12 universities all around Indonesia, and as a result, many students felt that this book is very important for them and it is also very useful in terms of increasing the financial services industry trust. Aside from that, most of the students who participated in the test said that the books are very relevant for University Students who uses the Indonesian Language as their working language,? Kusumaningtuti explained.
The event was continued with a brief explanation from Dr. Agus Sugiarto on the previous Financial Literacy Books series, they are OJK and Micro-Prudential Supervision, The Banking Industry, The Capital Market, The Insurance Industry, Financing Institutions, Pension Fund, Other Financial Services Institutions, and The Sharia Financial Services Industry. Aside from those 8 books, there is one supplementary series on Financial Planning.
Through the launching, OJK hopes that the students of Business School, as well as students from other faculties, would be more aware of the importance of Financial Literacy so that the rate of financial literacy could improve in the future.

The event ended with a handover ceremony of the nine books from the Financial Literacy Series by OJK to the representative of Kemenristek Dikti, Prof. Intan Ahmad, Ph.D., as well as a certificate to the POKJA team as an appreciation for the financial literacy books, which they have produced. (hc)
