Monday, January 25, 2016 UPH received a visit from the University of Panca Bakti (UPB) Pontianak as a form of follow-up agreement made between the two sides. The visit was conducted as well as a means to share experiences and learn both the advantages and disadvantages of each university. In this visit, discussed several topics, including the UPH strategies to increase the value of accreditation, quality faculty resources, qualification of graduates and student achievement.
Matters relating to cooperation between the two sides also discussed, including the ‘graft lecturers’ of guest lecturers and international lecturer recommendation.
The term ‘graft lecturers’ meant is the learning process to improve the quality of lecturers, with the lecturer UPB will be assistant lecturers following the teaching process carried out by senior lecturer FH UPH in classes for 2-3 months. Lecturers who have done observation to report to the UPB on what has been learned, as well as UPH will provide a report to the UPB, without any cost, only by a decree (SK) from UPB and UPH.
Forms of cooperation could also be in a form of guest lecturer. UPH as a global campus often receive requests from legal practitioners from different countries to teach in UPH FH (faculty of law), to meet government requirements for foreign lawyers who practice here at home. These opportunities can be recommended for teaching at UPB. This effort is expected by Prof. Bintan to be able to improve the knowledge of students in UPB and also supports the value of accreditation UPB.
Related to improving the quality of teachers and teaching, Chairman of the Department of Law Vincensia Esti ,. P, S.H., M.H., also states assessment of UPH regarding curriculum in accordance with KKNI (Indonesian National Qualifications Framework), in particular regarding the qualifying standard UPH graduates. For the future hope of UPB Esti also hope to share information about the curriculum. On that occasion Esti also explained the importance of research and dedication to the community of the faculty lecturers, both individually and together with students who are equipped with an assignment letter from the dean.
At the end of the session, Velliana Tanaya, S.H., M.H., Director of FH UPH explain about student achievement, as a point for accreditation. “Faculty of Law UPH has three focus namely National Moot Court competition, the International Moot Court, and debates, where all the teams that are members autonomously become part of the Student Association of the Faculty of Law who is directly responsible to the Faculty of Law. The participation of students in this competition comes with a Certificate of Companion diploma (SPKI) which will be given at graduation, and is expected to further equip graduates, “said Velliana.
