“Active in the field of communication is my passion. And I found this after I entered at UPH. I am particularly interested in Integrated Marketing Communications which taught me about marketing and communications as a whole. IMC in UPH is one of the best for me, because I did not only get the theoretical knowledge but also acquire skills through practice and work directly in an industry, “said Ronald. In addition, for Ronald, the lecturers of Communication Studies of UPH is also interesting because in addition to master the theory, they also follow the development of science in the field and most importantly, they also want to help students who want to explore the material although outside the classroom.

For Ronald, university does not only mean to seek knowledge, but also to actively experience and even participate in various competitions. This is the principle which prompted him to be active in a wide range of activities both on campus and off campus. In fact, he learned a lot of seniors and colleagues from other universities to be able to compete in a variety of off-campus activities. One competition that Ronald followed recently is XL Future Leaders Program period November 2015 to November 2017.

XL Future Leaders in itself is a program of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), which provides soft skills training to train leadership for the young generation to be ready to face the challenges of the future. The program also acts as XL’s commitment and consistency in supporting the quality of education in Indonesia. Through this program XL encompass students from various campuses throughout Indonesia to be trained for two years in a leadership workshop program. Selected students will follow the conference, workshops, and also be encouraged to provide solutions to the problems of a given case. XL Future Leaders program is selecting 150 of the 20,000 students in the class IV registrants in 2015, to later together gain academic knowledge and soft skills.

To be 150 XL’s Future Leaders, Ronald must get a recommendation from the campus, and attaching score of academic scores, and following a series of tests such as TOEFL, GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test), FGD (Focus Group Discussion), and interviews. Once elected Ronald continued to be active and develop their potential. This is evidenced by frequent request to be a moderator entrusted to the chairman of the group.

But in addition to the focus of the program which he was engaged in, Ronald also has a commitment to his responsibilities as a student, to maintain academic scores, discipline, able to give an example to the surrounding friends and he is determined to have an impact for the wider community.

In the future, he personally has hopes for UPH to cooperate with XL to provide socialization at UPH so many students were also interested to participate in this valuable program. (Mt/mf)
