Stay Away Campaign: No S.A.D. Be SMART by UPH was ended with the commitment of all ranks of the UPH and students to combat free sex, smoking, alcohol, and drugs, which are called together on 12 November 2015, at the Grand Chapel UPH.

Rector of UPH, Dr. (Hon) Jonathan L. Parapak, M. Eng. Sc., on the occasion reiterated the commitment of UPH becoming a clean campus (KASIH). “It’s clear that we do not want any free sex, drugs, alcohol, but we are not in a void environment. We are surrounded by people, where there are undesirable things that happen, and the younger generations have become the target of people who are evil. For that we need to constantly remind students and all stakeholders in the UPH,” said Jonathan.

Rector also said that the UPH should be at the forefront in rejecting promiscuity, alcohol, and drugs. Moreover UPH is a Christ-Centered which means the whole family of UPH maintains the body that has been given by God. As a continuation of this campaign, rector assigned student affairs department, to train mentors and helping to monitor as a task force.

In addition to Jonathan L. Parapak, Students Life Director of UPH, Novel Priyatna, said the purpose of the campaign Stay Away: No S.A.D. Be SMART is to educate and change the mindset, through information on the consequences of S.A.D. (free sex, smoking, alcohol and drugs). “From this purpose is expected to be the protection and prevention of negative impacts, and also of course Be SMART. SMART here is not only cognitive but a change of mindset or worldview in making a decision. So if they want to achieve the goal of his life, they have to make the right decisions and do not engage SAD, “said Novel.

Accordingly to the hopes given by the Rector, Novel has prepared a program as a continuation of this campaign. “In addition to form a task force, the educational process is also likely to continue to continue to include the message No S.A.D. Be SMART in events held at UPH, for example when there?s valentine event, the message of No S.A.D. Be SMART will still be issued there. Furthermore, for future programs, I propose the subject that accommodates the associated message of this campaign. Then for UPH Festival which is a moment of welcoming new students, this message will also be raised in the event program, for instance in the session Distinguish Guest Speaker (DGS) are indeed talking about the message of this campaign, and this pattern is expected to continue as an educational tool for new students.

For this last day, the campaign Stay Away: No S.A.D. were enlivened with some appearance of UPH Division and Mini Talkshow  from the Prevent Than Treating Movement (GMDM) presented by Israel Koosnadi as an Educational Speaker in GMDM, at the UPH Garden.

For Israel, the existence of this campaign is very well to remind the students that as a result of narcotics only one, that is the lost of their lives. Besides that, Israel says that narcotics are not items that can be used as an escape from the problem, it was initially people who consume narcotics will be excited, confident, but it is apparent that it damage tissues throughout the body. “It’s not enough to say ?Say no to drugs? but it’s time to fight against drugs,” said Israel. In line with the Rector and the Novel, Israel also said he hoped there would be a joint effort in the future to make a group of people concerned about this issue and form a task force.

Mini talk show became the last event of Stay Away Campaign: No S.A.D. Be SMART before finally reaching the peak of the event, which is Drug Counseling seminar by dr.
