Internal Sport League Or ISL Season 8

ISL Players in a Match, Defending Their Own Major and Faculty

ISL is the abbreviation for Internal Sports League, sport?s league annual event between faculties held by UniversitasPelitaHarapan (UPH). This year was the eighth ISL and it was held on October 22, 2015. ISL gave a chance for UPH students to compete and fight for their major/faculty. If on the previous years, ISL is only opened for basketball, soccer and dodge ball branch, in its 8^th season, ISL added two more sports, which is football and swimming.

Swimming has been an interesting sport, because from all of the games in ISL, most of them had body contact, such as in basketball, soccer and football. With the presence of swimming as a new competition in ISL, it became a sport that could be enjoyed by everyone.

What makes this year?s ISL different from its previous ones?

According to Daniel Rahadi, The Head of Sports Program at UPH who was also an alumni of UPH who is always actively involved in ISL, this event can be a seeding time for athletes who could probablybe scouted to intercollegiate team.

?The ISL football could also be a talent scout event for UPH Football team,? said Daniel.

?The reason why swimming is added in the competition this year, it?s because everybody can swim, so everyone can actually join the competition. Techniques and swimming ability can actually be trained as long as there is a competition to accommodate them,? added Daniel.

IllaAzwar, ISL advisor, had a different opinion about the development of this season?s ISL. ?One of ISL problem is the number of supporters. We had been looking for the reason why in some of ISL season, there were such a limited number of supporters who came. Usually supporters come to watch because they have an interest at the said competition. In the end, we add another game in ISL, with the hope that more supporters can come and enjoy the competitions in ISL,? said Illa.

?Hopefully, they won?t just see these competitions as a regular competition, but as a competition and event where they can have fun,? she added.

Daniel andIllahopes that those two new sports can gain UPH students interest in ISL and so that ISL can grow to be an event that brings together and unite UPH community as well as providing them with new and interesting experiences for the people involved, both participants and supporters.
