Elwen Suryadi Hoping God to Use Him as Motivation For Others

A limitation does not keep someone for being an icon. Elwen Suryadi, UPH Management 2015 arrived the last at the finish line of 5K Run UPH Festival 22, but in the eyes of UPH family, Elwen was a winner. Following is Elwen?s story after UPH Festival 22.

As a new student, Elwen thought that UPH Festival 22 was very exciting. He met a lot of new friends who were willing to help and support him. Learning from the theme, ?Grow Deeper?, Elwen prayed that his faith to grow closer and deeper in God. ?With this kind of physical condition, many people might blame God. But I do not want to act that way,? he said firmly. Elwen admitted that he wanted to participate on 5K Run because he did not want to get a special treatment and trigger protests from other students due to his exclusion. 5 kilometer is such a long distance, but Elwen?s fighting spirit is bigger than that.

Elwen?s willingness to continue his study in UPH has been through a long process. His reasons for applying to UPH are not only based on good and complete facilities and academic programs, but Elwen has the same vision and mission as UPH. The Ora Et Labora BSD alumni is successfully becoming an official student of UPH with 50% scholarship.

Elwen admitted that he gained the strength and inspiration to always fight for himself from his church priest. ?He who has physical disability can come early. People with perfect physical condition should actually be better,? said the priest who often paid attention to Elwen who always comes early at the worship. Listening the priest words, Elwen realized, ?God created me for a purpose. I might be used to be motivation for others and support them to give their best because God has created them with a perfect physical condition.?

The perseverance to make his life as motivation for others makes Elwen determine to do his best. He also dreamed to be the president director of his own company. He really appreciates UPH environment and friends that are very welcoming. ?My friends wanted to help me despite the fact that we just met. At the beginning I thought that I could not adapt in socializing due to UPH students? lavish lifestyle. But apparently, not everyone is like that,? he said. Elwen also had a good impression and motivation on his very first class, the religion class taught by Ir. Tikno Iensufiie. He planned to join some UKM (Unit Kegiatan Mahasiswa), such as Theater UKM.
