The number one public figure of DKI was present in UPH Festival 22 as Distinguised Guest Speaker to give public lecture and motivation to 4000 new students on the last day of UPH Festival 22, Satuday, August 22, 2015 at UPH basketball court.
Who does not know Basuki Tjahaja Purnama? A figure who is firm, radical, and has principle to stand on the truth. A leader who is not afraid to die in solving the problems of Jakarta City and fighting for citzen?s social right. The number one public figure of DKI was present in UPH Festival 22 as Distinguised Guest Speaker to give public lecture and motivation to 4000 new students on the last day of UPH Festival 22, Satuday, August 22, 2015 at UPH basketball court.
In his speech, he shared his experience in being the governor of DKI Jakarta. He said that this beloved country is in need of new generations who are radical in the truth, who can justify the law, who are obedient to consitution, and who are not self-centered. He also said that to be an impactful leader of the nation, it takes a strong foundation and principle. A true leader does not corrupt, does not accepts bribes, and is not selfish and greedy. Mr. Ahok motivated the new students to truly hold on the right principle and comtribute to governmental units if they desire to see the change in this beloved country, Indonesia.
The public lecture by Mr. Ahok received a rousing cheers from new students. They were enthusiastic and questioning a lot of advices about running a challenging governmental responsibility. Mr. Ahok answered the question by saying that he has to be consistent with the rules, to hold on to the principle of the truth, to reject bribery, to not corrupt, and to have the heart of servant. Meanwhile, on answering the question about how the students can contribute in supporting government programs, Ahok said that the participation can start from self-discipline and obeying the rule, such as to throw garbage at its place, to drive and walk safe and discipline, to not shop at the road merchants that will cause traffic jam, and be a serious student. He also explained about the newly available internship program of PEMDA DKI.
After delivering a speech, Dr. (Hon) Jonathan L. Parapak M.Eng.Sc., Rector of UPH gave UPH plaque to Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, Governor of DKI Jakarta, and had a photosession. James T. Riady, the Founder of UPH and the senior management of YPPH also attended and accompanied the departure of Governor. Before departing, the Governor greeted and took a picture together with new students and public on UPH Festival 22. (fc/nn)
