On August 17, 2015, approximately 2000 academic members of Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) consist of staff, lecturers, and students participated on flag ceremony in commemorating the independence day of Republic of Indonesia (RI)
The 70 years of independence of Indonesia has not made Indonesia truly independent. Indonesia still needs to fight a lot more to achieve the national dream and vision in developing the nation and country of Indonesia. Gratitude we deliver to God for He has led Indonesia for 70 years embracing the independence, even during the struggle and effort in achieving the independence. On August 17, 2015, approximately 2000 academic members of Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) consist of staff, lecturers, and students participated on flag ceremony in commemorating the independence day of Republic of Indonesia (RI).
In this opportunity, UPH Rector, Dr. (Hon) Jonatha L. Parapak M.Eng.Sc. delivered a welcoming speech from the Minister of Research, Technology, and High Education of Republic Indonesia, Prof. H. Mohamad Nasir, Ph.D., Ak., entitled ?Let?s Work in Developing The Better Quality of Research, Technology, and High Education to Produce Excellent Innovation?. In the delivered speech, the Minister shared that Indonesia?s independence is a golden bridge built by the founding fathers and mothers of Indonesia to realize all the hopes which is to have the country that protects all of the citizens, to develop general welfare, to educate the nation and participate in world?s orderliness based on independence, eternal peace, and social justice.
In this 70th year, Indonesia has achieved many notable things, but there are still more goals that have not yet been attained. Many potential resources in Indonesia have not been exploited maximally. In commemorating the 70th independence day of Indonesia, the government launched a national movement of ?Let?s Work?. Through the speech, the Minister also delivered the message from President of RI, Mr. Joko Widodo, which is to make the national movement ?Let?s Work? as the turning point to realize the goals of Indonesia?s independence, as he invited the audiences altogether to yell ?Let?s Work, Let?s Work, Let?s Work?. Three national priorities that have been emphasized to realize the National Movement of Let?s Work including maritime, food sufficiency, and energy independence.
Specifically dedicated to education field, the Minister in the message invited to increase quality, produce innovation, and increase competency through innovation and high-quality graduates. All of this can only be achieved with hard work.
Closing the flag ceremony, led by Mr. Junius Hardy, UPH united and prayed for Indonesia to become a nation that honors God?s sovereignty, lives tough, obedient, and loyal in the truth, become the nation that appreciates humanity and moral, also to keep the togetherness and unity, become an honorable nation in deliberation and consensus for the sake of the nation and NKRI, also become a nation that has social, economy, politic, education, culture, and technology justice, from west, north, to east and south region of Republic of Indonesia.
Lastly, let us participate and contribute in achieving national dreams and goals of Republic of Indonesia, become a developed nation and become a truly independent nation. Let?s Work! (fc/nn)
