UPH Company Gathering 2014: ?How to Manage Y Generation at Workplaces?

In order to tighten ties and appreciation towards the companies UPH had been working together with, Career Center UPH invited all the CEO of the companies to attend the Company Gathering 2014.

More than 70 professional Human Resources (HR) from 40 companies attended Company Gathering 2014 

In order to tighten ties and appreciation towards the companies UPH had been working together with, Career Center UPH invited all the CEO of the companies to attend the Company Gathering 2014. This event was hold on Friday, 9 May 2014 at Multi Purpose Room, MYC, starting from 10.00-12.00.

 

More than 70 professional Human Resources (HR) from 40 companies that join UPH partnership attended the  event  such as,  Lippo Group,  PT.  Mitra  Adiperkasa,  EF English  First,  PT XMGrativikasi Digital, Orang Tua Group, and many others. The event that was made by Alumni and Corporate Relations Department, has a purpose to equip the participants in doing the recruitment processes  and  also  career  development  at  every  companies  they  work  with.  Therefore,  the committee was inviting 2 speakers that are famous in human resources area, which are Achmad Suastarko Putro as a senior HR at PT Mondelez Indonesia and Bernadette Themas, as a Vice President and Managing Director of Kelly Services.
 

In the opening speech, Budhi T Yuwono, representing Rector UPH, apreciating supports that have been given by all the companies UPH works together with, not only in working practices program, internship, and recruitment. ?We are surely realize that a factor of being a successful university is related with the competition in industrial  world,  that?s why we emphasized ourpartnership with the companies to do intership program for UPH graduates. I hope through this program, there will be closer relationship and could be able to understand both parties needs.?said Budi.

The talkshow with the titled ?Challenge The HR to understanding the Y Characteristic? with both sources moderated by Judith Huliselan, as a head of Program Management Magister UPH.At the beginning of the session, Bernadette Themas explained about classification of generationX until Z with classification of every generation. It cannot be denied that generation Y will bedominating the career world. Kelly Services also hired generation Y as much as 85% from the total employees that work there. ?Generation Y tend to follow their passion on deciding what kind of job they will work on and find flexibility. If they feel it?s not suitable for them, they tend to  go  out  from  the  company  and  most  of  them  choose  to  be  an  entrepreneur,?  explained Bernadette. She also emphasize that generation Y will be very happy to be treated equally and received attention from their boss.

 

Achmad added tips and trick to handle generation Y at career world. PT Mondeles Indonesia alsohire Y generation as much as 73 percent from total employees. Achmad had faith on the young talents because they are the future leader of our world. That?s why, in every companies they need to realize the fact that generation Y has the ability of fast pace working system because of the development of technology and social media.

added tips and trick to handle generation Y at career world

?PT  Mondelez  Indonesia  has  been  applying  working  system  that  is  suitable  with  the characteristic the generation Y have, such as providing coaching for grow program, where every mentor will help to guide the generation Y with equal treatments, because generation Y tend to dislike a dictatorial leader. There are also fast tract program like iLead to fasten their career journal, with game room and gym to give comfortable feeling working in the office,? explained Achmad.  He  mentioned how important  to  prevent  stereotyping in  the  working environment because there are differences on this generation, but the need to understand and supporting each other.

 

In the end of the session, Bernadette also remind generation Y will be the next leader, therefore they need to be guided to be able to explore their self, but also to hold their vision to be the purpose of working.

 

Through this event, the participants could exhange information and also maintain relationship between the HR from different company. After the talk show finished, the event was continued by door prize. Company Gathering was closed with getting photos and having lunch together.(ca/pris)
