This talkshow featured three speakers namely Ignatius Puguh Priambodo from Ministry of Foreign Affairs Indonesia, Tomi Sutjipto from United Nations Development Programme, and Wendy Shapiro from United Nations Volunteer. The discussed topics in this talkshow are about job vacancies at United Nations (UN) as well as international organizations under UN.

Ignatius Puguh Priambodo opened the talkshow by explaining that the total of Indonesia citizens that work in international organizations is no more than 5000 workers even though the total of Indonesia population itself is quite a lot, which is around 250 million. According to Puguh, this condition shows that Indonesia contribution for the world is still considered low. Puguh added that working in international organizations actually give a lot of benefits, aside from stable financial condition, one valuable benefit is the opportunity to interact with many colleagues from all around the world. ?Working in an international organization is an opportunity for us to be a global citizen,? said Puguh. He then continued to explain the skills that are going to be needed when working at UN. The most important skill is the language proficiency ? particularly the six UN official languages ? where more language proficiencies are more preferred.  Another skill that needs to be noticed is that UN covers an extensive field ? from scientific to social ? where the entire field of works is holistically connected. Because of that, Puguh affirmed that any majors that the students are currently studying will surely be useful when working in UN.

Next, Tomi Sutjipto from United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) explained the mission of this organization. UNDP, an international organization under UN, has a mission to position human resources to help the improvement of a country?s welfare as well as its people. There are four areas of works in UNDP namely poverty eradication, green technology development, disaster response, and democratic governance. UNDP also open internship opportunities for students from any majors and in the last two years, there are three UPH students who have done their internship in this organization.

The third speaker is Wendy Shapiro from United Nation Volunteers (UNV). Similar with UNDP, UNV is also under UN but the difference is that UNDP directly working on society level. ?No matter how small our action is, people could help each other, this is the kind of place that we want to live in, right? This is what we called a society, a community,? said Wendy. UNV gathers volunteers from all over the world to bring positive impacts for society and at the end, the country itself.
