UPH welcomes the arrival of distinguished guests Krue Brock and Hollee Brock, a couple from Chattanooga – Tennessee, United States of America. Krue Brock is an Adjunct Professor at Covenant College and is heavily involved in the world of education, business and politics as well as being the Co-Founder of Chattanooga Football Club and owner of Market Street Union. Hollee Brock, Krue Brock?s wife, is also deeply involved in the world of education and the world of art, particularly modern dance/ballet in Chattanooga.

Krue Brock?s arrival to UPH is part of the cooperation between UPH and Covenant College. For one semester, Krue Brock hopes to assist and encourage the ITC & TC programs, campus Chaplain, Rev. Albert Mitchell Moore, and entrepreneurial efforts here on campus. Covenant College students will also participate in a Cross-cultural Studies program, coming to UPH in May. “We want them to have the experience of learning here at UPH like we are. Our daughters are having a great experience learning at SPH as well.” said Krue. Additionally, Krue Brock is working with Cinemaxx as it prepares to open the MaxxBox cinema here in Lippo Village soon.

Meanwhile, Hollee Brock, who loves arts, especially dancing, is keen to get involved with dance at UPH. Hollee is also interested in learning traditional Indonesian dance through the UPH Student Activities Unit in the field of art. “I think art really helps us to think creatively, to learn things we can apply in other areas,” said Hollee.

To Krue Brock, school should help students to be able to think and see everything that exists in this world as an opportunity to serve and bring worship to God. With the realization that everything was created by God and must return to glorify Him; Krue Brock says, “business, psychology, medicine, the arts, education, law, etc. are aspects of culture to glorify God and bring health, wholeness, and “rightness”. I think UPH is working on this integration so I want to encourage it.?

Krue Brock and Hollee Brock admitted that they are very enthusiastic to be able to visit UPH, Indonesia, not only because this is their very first trip to Indonesia, but also because they are very amazed by God?s work at this university. According to them, UPH is a very dynamic university because it has a very good positive momentum, a good balance between learning and applying the lessons. There is good leadership with good vision and direction. Moreover, according to Krue Brock, the most different thing and what he likes most from UPH is the students who have diverse beliefs and cultures, “Last week I attended a class where there were Buddhist, Muslim, Hindu and Christian students all learning together. For me, it was fascinating to learn, and really discuss the most important question with all joined in – it was very unifying and strengthening. It gets me excited about the future of Indonesia.” says Brock.

Krue also admires the uniqueness of Indonesian cultures, arts, foods, and outstanding natural beauties. Through those things, Krue thinks that from UPH, a leader who does not only mimick something from another country, but also dares to expose the uniqueness of Indonesia itself should be born. (fc)
