On Friday, UPH held a seminar with an interesting and useful topic for teachers and headmasters for high school around Surabaya. The seminar, which was themed ?Strategy in Integrating Character-Education?, was attended by around 30 teachers. Smart and good were dual purpose that could not be separated and they became the resurrection basis of Character-Education which was pioneered by Prof. Thomas Lickona, PhD, who then known as the Father of Character-Education. The importance of character-education had made it became necessary to be integrated in all subjects and extracurricular.

Unfortunately, there were barriers in the implementation, especially for teachers who teach other subjects besides Religion and Civics. Therefore, this seminar, which brought Ir. Drs. Djihan Yoga, MSc. MoT as the speaker, gave broader concept about the integration of Character-Education in other subjects. ?The teachers who attended this seminar were enthusiastic enough and they admitted that they were interested in that theme,? said Iwan Kesuma, one of the organizers.

Besides teacher?s seminar, UPH also held an Educational Expo in the same place on the next day. At the expo, visitors could ask directly about faculty and major they were interested in. In this occasion, there was also an interview session for the prospective scholarships recipients. This interview was attended by 14 prospective scholarships recipients who had passed to this step. ?From those 14 prospective scholarships recipients, they chose Food Technology, Visual Communication Design, Music, Management, Tourism, and International Relations majors. Most of them chose Music Department,? said Andreas K Djuardi as the Director of Faculty of Design and Planning, who interviewed those prospective recipients. ?According to them, they are interested in UPH because of the quality of the education and facilities. Besides that, they also get recommendations from their relatives who have got education in UPH,? Andreas added.
