The media and journalism concentration focuses on how the media as an organization manages news and issues to be communicated to the general audience. Students will learn to examine and manage information delivery to the public, emphasizing the necessity of good messaging in news reporting and issue management.
The curriculum covers both communication theory and essential soft skills, preparing students for diverse roles within media organizations. The program explores the ways in which media platforms can be utilized to manage public perception, shape societal narratives, and ensure the ethical dissemination of information.
The Strategic Communication for Media and Journalism specialization aims to equip students with the skills necessary not only to manage newsrooms, oversee media content, handle communication crises, gain skills in managing messages through media organizations, but also to act as reporters who can cover situations in their lives, whether through documentary films or citizen journalism, as well as becoming content creators who express themselves through currently developing social media.
