Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) once again proved its reputation as internationally acknowledged university through its latest student exchange program. The program includes a six months student exchange between Seoul National University of Science and Technology (Seoultech) and UPH Architecture Department.
Located in Nowon-Gu, Seoul, South Korea, Soultech is the city?s 5th largest university. Founded in 1910, the university has three main objectives: creative education, education in humanities, and practical education.
The student exchange program will allow 3rd semester student from both universities to study in the counter university for one semester. In order to facilitate the international exchange students, UPH Architecture Department will conduct courses in English. In addition to the courses, Seoultech students will also be given opportunity to learn about Indonesian culture through participation in various student activities.
The MoU initiator, Julia Dewi, a lecture in UPH Architecture department said that the cooperation is very important as it will enlarge both universities? global network.
?We hope this exchange program will be beneficial for both parties. We hope that program will give the students opportunities to learn not only about the courses but also to enrich their learning through experience and interaction with different culture.? Julia added.
Seoultech’s visit was represented by JoonGul Oh PhD, RA, LEED AP, Associate Professor from the Seoultech School of Architecture, welcomed by Gunawaty Tjioe, UPH Vice President for Academic Affairs, Ir. Budhi T. Yuwono, M.M., M.Pd., UPH Senior Assistant to Rector, Ferry Gunawan; UPH Head of Architecture, Martin Katoppo; UPH SoD Acting Dean, Julia Dewi; lecturer in UPH Architecture, and Dr. (Hon) Jonathan Parapak, M.Eng.Sc., in particular came to sign the MoU
“UPH is a global university that has class conducted in English, which in my opinion is very important. I expect different cultural experiences from this exchange. Indeed that would be something valuable. I also hope that this exchange can be broaden to faculty members exchange, not only a student exchanges, and it also can be an interesting thing if we can collaborate in making articles, or research together, “JoonGul hoped.
