UPH Received a Visit from Calvin College, USA.

International Office UPH received a student and lecturer visit from Calvin College, USA, for more than two weeks, which occurring on January 7th-23rd, 2016.

International Office UPH received a student and lecturer visit from Calvin College, USA, for more than two weeks occurring on January 7th-23rd, 2016. The guest team from Calvin College consisted of 27 students and 3 supervisors. This visit was part of Artist Collaborative subject, where they were assigned to explore how Christian leaders handle worldly issues together with other people through art and culture.

 

During their visit to Indonesia, a team from UPH International Office accompanied this group in some activities and visiting several tourist sites. They had the opportunity to explore Pelita Harapan Education Foundation (YPPH) units and interact with UPH students, through ?Laskar Pelangi? film discussion which was adapted from a book by Andrea Hirata. This group also conducted a tea walk in Gunung Mas Puncak, Bogor, as well as viewing directly the activities of local community.

 

As part of the history and culture study; they spent a few days in Yogyakarta, where they learned to make batik, visited temples and museums. The following city destination was Bali, where tourism plays a major role on the economy in this area. In Bali, this group received a different experience from a wide range of tourist objects. Even so, the students also gained a lot of insights from their biking activities where they rode around houses, fields and coffee plantations.
