?Papua is not underdeveloped, but it is an area that receive less concern and touch from various parties, including the government. In Mamit, there are many things that can be done through education. They need real education. Not just science subjects but also in terms of health, agriculture and other things in life. I?m very thankful that YPPH already had three schools in Papua, which is Sekolah Lentera Harapan (SLH) in the village of Mamit, Tolikara, Papua, Sekolah Papua Harapan (SPH) in the village of Doyo Baru, Jayapura and Kampung Harapan Kecamatan Sentani. They thirst for education. The parents, are also very enthusiastic about encouraging their children to go to school,” said Beta.
?This was a part of YPPH vision that was established 20 years ago, by the founder, Johannes Oentoro and James T. Riady. The vision was to elaborate education in Indonesia and to build 10 international schools, 100 national-plus schools and 1000 schools in remote areas. And today, there has been 3 universities (UPH) located in Karawaci, Surabaya and Medan. Now, there has been more than 30,000 students and 15 thousands scholar that is educated under YPPH,? said Rector. (rh/seli) |
