?The flight condition in Indonesia is now in chaos,? stated Chappy Hakim, former head of the Air Force staff, at the seminar held by UPH Faculty of Law in cooperation with Indonesia Ministry of Transportation at UPH on Wednesday, March 21, 2012. Discussing the Indonesian civil aviation act of 2009, Hakim said that there is too much problem being faced by Indonesian airlines right now. This also relates to the civil aviation act of 2009.
Some of the problems mentioned earlier in the aviation industry in Indonesia include the irregular flight schedule, crashed airplanes, pilot using drugs, etc. Therefore, the flight safety is very concerning. Moreover, Indonesian airports need to be upgraded as the Indonesian airlines are some of the fastest growing airlines in the world. Another interesting fact is although the airlines industry is the industry that makes least profit, many businesspersons seems to be interested in making airlines. However, businessman only concerns about profit while airlines should concern about the passenger safety too. This is where the problem comes. ?On the strategic level, a policy is needed to accommodate this,? told Hakim. One of the aviation act lawmakers Prof. Dr. H. K. Martono, S.H., LL.M. said that the regulations need to be implemented gradually. Hemi Pamurahardjo, S.H., DESS, also mentioned that the government must actively involve in guiding the airlines. The government must manage the policy, control the development and operational system, and supervise the implementation of the act. (dee) UPH Media Relations |
