Do what you love and love what you do. This is what Andini Effendi does to realize her dream to become a journalist. Have admired CNN anchor, Paula Zahn since she was in high school, Andini was very determined to become just like her. Enrolling at UPH Communication Department in 2000 was the first step of her career in journalism. This current anchor of Metro TV studied the basic idea of journalism from professional practitioners to get the scoop of this interesting field. By having the chance to do what a real journalists do since she was a student, she prepared herself to work in real industry right after she had graduated. One of the most memorable experiences she had while working for Metro TV was going to Libya to cover the news. There, she was not only asked to report and read the news, but also to analyze the precarious situation in a very dangerous area. Covering news while listening to gunshot on the background is definitely not an easy job. ?This is not an easy job to do. We don?t get paid much. Basically, this job requires strong idealism and your eagerness to know more about everything,? said Andini explaining her career. Therefore, loving your job and willing to sacrifice much are the prime keys to success. ?This is not just about being on TV. Being on TV is probably the easiest task from all of my job description. Presenting the news is easy, but loving your job as a whole is the hardest part. It is a 24/7 job and you have to know a lot of things,? explained her. |
Andini Effendi is now the anchor of Metro Pagi (Metro TV?s morning news program) and Indonesia Now (Metro TV?s weekly English news program). (dee)
