Vision
The UPH Faculty of Center for Foundational Education embraces a Reformed Worldview to holistically shape students, empowering them to embody its values and live as faithful citizens of God’s Kingdom.
Mission
Grounded in the belief that humans are created in God’s image with inherent potential—sustained despite sin and renewed by grace—the Faculty of Center for Foundational Education carries out its academic mission by:
– Instilling the understanding of truth’s unity.
– Fostering moral and spiritual growth toward Christ-likeness.
– Equipping students with analytical, historical, and evaluative skills.
CFE helps me to see things not only within my perspective, but throughout multiple perspective, to help me understand and tackle the problem clearly & more objectively.
CFE has allowed me to think differently about Christianity and it allows me to think deeper about my faith as well.
CFE is very helpful to equip us for our study program, and to equip us with things we need to know for our future profession.
I learned a lot of new things, about Jesus, not just on the surface level, but more in depth of what God is trying to tell us through the bible.
Why do I have to do Center for Foundational Education as part of my degree?
At UPH, we offer world-class holistic education, blending broad academic foundations with skills for life and work. Our goal is not just to inform but to transform your life.
Isn’t Center for Foundational Education a Western concept? Why is it at an Indonesian university?
While rooted in Western traditions, Center for Foundational Education also align with Asia’s rich history of holistic education in knowledge and character. At UPH, our curriculum integrates Indonesian elements like Pancasila, Asian literature, and local aesthetics.
Is this good for my future employment?
Absolutely. Employers highly value transferable “soft” skills like communication, intercultural competence, critical thinking, and reflection—all integral to our Center for Foundational Education curriculum.
Are you assuming I am Christian?
No. Our Center for Foundational Education curriculum offers streams for both Christian/Catholic students and those of other religions. While we encourage personal reflection on how studies relate to you, we respect your right to make your own decisions about belief without forcing any religious conversion.
May I choose my own Center for Foundational Education courses?
No, there is a curated set of courses to provide strong educational foundations. All students follow the same pathway based on their stream (Christian or non-Christian), though non-Christian students may switch to the Christian stream if desired.
Is the Center for Foundational Education component related to my study program?
Yes, we are integrating the Center for Foundational Education into individual study programs. For example, nursing students will see how Center for Foundational Education studies enhance their nursing practice. While some courses are more directly applicable, all contribute to a holistic education.
