This year, Liga Mahasiswa ? LIMA (Students League) is back with basketball matches between universities from all over Indonesia. Highlighting this year theme, ?Bigger, Better, Louder?, LIMA is going to be held in six cities namely Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Semarang, and Malang. LIMA?s theme this year really reflects the matches that are getting exciting ? last year, 81 teams from 45 universities participated but for this year, there are 97 teams from 52 universities.
Also in this year LIMA, there is a new rule for the students who are going to participate; they need to have a minimum GPA of 2.00. This new rule is stated by CEO of Liga Mahasiswa, Ryan Gozali. This new rule purpose is to remind the participants to not leave their academic achievements. Moreover, participants need to do 6-hours social activities as a pre-requisite to enter the Grand Final round.
LIMA Basketball is going to be held in four conferences, Air Mineral Prim-A Greater Jakarta Conference, Bibli.com West Java Conference, Kaskus Central Java Conference, McDonald West Java Conference. LIMA is already started with the Greater Jakarta Conference at Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) on October 18 to October 20, 2013. Meanwhile the final is going to take place in Central Java Conference at Yogyakarta next year on February 17 to February 23, 2014.
UPH opened their first match with women basketball between UPH Eagles and Perbanas Institute. UPH won their first match in LIMA 2013-2014 with 49-36. The second day match is closed with UPH Eagles? winning over Universitas 17 Agustus 1945 (UTA) Owls with the score 62-20.
