UPH Festival 20 ?Reach Higher?: Introduction to the UPH Rectorate

Universitas Pelita Harapan once again held the UPH Festival 20 and Open House from August 21 to August 24 2013. Through UPH Festival, new students are getting warm welcomes and broader insight on the incoming campus worlds. Some of the activities and events in UPH Festival are Distinguished Guest Speakers, sport and art activities, meet & greet with lecturers and faculty managements, mentoring programs, and UPH alumni reunion.

 

This year cohort accepts about new 2500 students in which divided into 200 groups where a mentor is assigned into each of it. On the first day, students gathered in the UPH Grand Chapel to know information about UPH in general. Rector of UPH ? Dr. (Hon) Jonathan L. Parapak, M.Eng.Sc., President of UPH ? Raymond Liu, Ph.D., Vice President for Academic Affairs ? Connie Rasilim, S.S., B.Ed, M.Pd., Vice President for Finance and Administration ? Ainon Manan, Vice President for Student Development and Spiritual Formation ? Dr. J. Kirk Kauffeldt, Ed.D., and Vice President for Relationship & Development ? Budhi T. Yuwono and alongside their teams welcomed the students? arrival with joy and excitement. In this occasion, Rector of UPH ? Jonathan L. Parapak introduced Rectorate of UPH and continued with a unique presentation about activities inside the working units of vice rectors that attracted students? attention.

 

Parapak also expressed his joy in welcoming the new students by shouting ?UPH!? and students responded also by shouting ?YES!? UPH President ? Raymond Liu stated in his remarks that the new students of cohort 2013 are the very first cohort to experience the newest education curriculum in UPH, the Trimester. He hoped that the student would always study diligently so that they may achieve the best results in UPH.

 

At the end of Rectorate introduction, Parapak took up the topic ?servant leadership?, where people lead by serving, and he hoped that this could give impacts for the students to do their best for the glory of Lord.

 

After having lunch, new students gathered with their mentors to get the detailed information about the series of activities in UPH Festival 20 and to get know more closely with each other. (YM)
