Linkedin Socialized ?Dream Jobs? at UPH

LinkedIn is the largest professional digital network in the world with an increasing number of members, currently roaming around millions of hundreds of them. LinkedIn has a mission to connect the professionals all over the world to be more productive and successful. LinkedIn initiated their program, Dream Jobs, in Indonesia to accommodate fresh graduates and young professionals who have only two years of work experience to get a dream job in companies that have partnered exclusively with LinkedIn. This program is also aimed to answer the fast rate of development LinkedIn enjoys coming from Millennials

As part of the Dream Jobs workshop that was held at UPH, LinkedIn participated to facilitate the students, especially for final-year students and for those who have just finished the workshop on March 16th, 2018 at UPH MYC. This workshop is in collaboration with the UPH Career Center to introduce LinkedIn and its digital network, as well as the features of LinkedIn that can be used maximally, especially for fresh graduates so that they can get their dream jobs.

?These companies are looking for young candidates, especially fresh graduates, to work at their companies. We hope that Indonesian students will get their dream job the very first time they work. We know that there are a lot of graduates facing many difficulties to find the first job they really want. Moreover, they don?t have any experience yet. So, our purpose is to help them to kick-start their jobs, even from the very beginning of their experience and to help them build their career starting from now. Because we all do realize that one?s first job is extremely important. Students get it right in the beginning,? explained Catherine.

Furthermore, Catherine explained why students? first job is very important. She said that we can have a lot of connections, sharpen our skills, a good career for the future, and we find that good company will almost always provide you with a good training.

?LinkedIn is able to help you to achieve it all because LinkedIn is different with other job fairs that are too crowded, where people just have about 5 minutes to talk with a person from their dream company. Through LinkedIn, users are able to read the description, what the company is looking for, and the kind of skill they need. LinkedIn also provides a lot of information, like how to find a mentor, career tips, and you can even ask some references to make getting a  job easier,? she added.

Besides Catherine, Ivan Christianto as the second speaker and also the representative from LinkedIn Indonesia presented 4 points to build a good profile at LinkedIn, some of them are: the right choice of profile picture, an attractive and creative tagline, a profile summary that describes your skills or fields of expertise, and also the importance of recommendation from credible sources..

Ratna as the manager of UPH Career Center also said that the participants can make their own LinkedIn profile that is attractive and creative, one that can attract people?s attention to get their dream jobs through this workshop.

?I hope that the students have a good profile at LinkedIn, so that when they start their career, they can fare much better than other graduates,? explained Ratna.

This workshop was participated by 120 people from various study programs at UPH. At the end of the session, they had an opportunity to ask and to consult more with Catherine and Ivan. (tm)
