The amount of study programs in a university often makes prospective students confused. For Indonesian High School students who took the Natural Sciences program, their favorite programs are usually ones that deal with physical sciences, analytical, and logical abilities. 1. Faculty of Medicine
One of Indonesia?s most favorite majors, especially for High School students who took the science program, is the Faculty of Medicine. Each year, hundreds of science students are trying to get enrolled in Medical schools. One of the private universities in Indonesia with the best Faculty of Medicine is Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH). The quality of UPH Faculty of Medicine?s education is not questionable, especially with its ?A? accreditation and its innovative curriculum. In the Faculty of Medicine of UPH, students are taught by professional lecturers who have years of experience in healthcare. 2. Information Systems (IS)
The rapid development of innovation and the increasingly high need for system design have made graduates with IT (Information Technology) background become some of the most-wanted candidates for companies. Therefore, it is safe to say that the Information Systems program is in the favorite list.
In UPH SISTech (School of Information Science and Technology), students are being equipped with the skill and knowledge to manage information as a resource and to become a professional IT who can answer the needs of the Information and Communication Technology market. UPH Information Systems itself has two concentrations: Technopreneurship and Web & Mobile Development.
SISTech UPH?s updated curriculum, students of IS UPH will be equipped with various courses including Management, Business, Accounting, Web Interface Design, Communication in Organization, and many more. Aside from supporting its students academically, IS UPH also encourages its students to participate in competitions. Recently, one of IS UPH students has just won 1st place in The 5th Chong Yue Video Competition 2020, a concept-video competition about the use of digital technology in promoting a brand.
3. Informatics
Another program from SISTech UPH is Informatics. The ongoing industrial revolution requires more IT (Information and Technology) professionals in various fields.
UPH Informatics offers an excellent curriculum with programming, database, and software development as its main course subjects. Students are challenged to follow the current trends of technology and the industry through a number of course subjects such as Software Methods, Frontier Technology, Internet of Things, Big Data & Data Sciences, Cloud Technology, and User Experiences. Similar to the Information System program, informatics is also divided into several concentrations namely software engineering, intelligent and interactive media, and medical informatics.
4. Pharmacy
Each year, Pharmacy has always been one of FaST?s most favorite programs among prospective students both in private and public universities. The career prospects of a pharmacist in clinical services and quality control are always promising.
With a population of more than 250 million, Indonesia needs more medical personnel to serve in many places around Indonesia. Unfortunately, the number of pharmacists in Indonesia is still quite low. Hence, UPH opens its Pharmacy program under the Faculty of Science and Technology (FaST) for Bachelor degree (S1) and Diploma (D3) degree. These future pharmacists are also equipped with three main labs; Pharmaceutical Technology Lab, Pharmaceutical Chemistry Lab, and Pharmacognosy lab.
In addition to that, the establishment of the Diploma program for Pharmacy studies also serves as a positive response towards Law No. 36 of 2014 on Health Workers which requires all pharmaceutical personnel to own at least a Diploma degree by 2020. The Diploma program for Pharmacy is accessible for prospective students who wants to work upon their graduation – surely, with a recognized work permit.
On the other hand, the Bachelor program for Pharmacy focuses on clinical pharmacy and natural pharmaceutical ingredients. The education and training given to these students enable the graduates of UPH Pharmacy to be a competent dialogue partner for doctors and patients regarding the rational use of medication.
