Dr. Ir. Illah Sailah, MS., Association of Indonesian Private Universities Sector III gave a message to graduates and attendees on UPH XXXIII Graduation on June 2nd, 2018 at UPH Grand Chapel. She began her speech with the Pancasila salute, for the Pancasila Day on June 1, 2018. She then expressed her hope that all attendees can be members of a nation that really is free and that can free other people. She also commended UPH as an institution that follows accurate administration procedures cooperatively.
She revealed that UPH has submitted 100% of its reports in the Dikti (Higher Education) database. Therefore, all graduates have been verified and this can be confirmed through online access. UPH management takes an important role in order for this to happen. Dr. Illah also reported that among UPH graduates, there are 50 people landing scholarships from the government.
She added that she hopes UPH graduates can become people that are ?RICH? ? being rich in spiritual life, knowledge, skill, and character.
UPH graduates also get an insight on the definition of ?RICH?:
1. Risk, which means UPH graduates understand and are ready to face risks when at work.
2. Innovation, which means that you will be appreciated when you continually innovate. Through innovation, we will continue on to live. So, use your right brain to work because that is where creativity comes from.
3. Character. Attitude is extremely important when giving service to the community ? it is better to help the people that need us than to reach out to the higher-ups or not reach anywhere at all.
4. How to contribute, which talks about whatever you can contribute, no matter how small or insignificant. Every person has their own place and role, and because of this, we should be people that benefit society.
Dr. Illah ended her message by reminding graduates that as future leaders, they have to learn to understand where the industrial world is going and also the role of the people around them helping the life proves. At the end of her speech, she read a poem by William Arthur, ?Before You?: Before you speak, listen. Before you write, think. Before you spend, earn. Before you invest, investigate. Before you criticize, wait. Before you pray, forgive. Before you quit, try. Before you retire, save. Before you die, give. Welcome to the competition! |
