Service Learning Student Life UPH invites representatives of foundations and organizations that partner with UPH Service Learning in the Service Learning Partners Gathering 2018 event on May 16th in MYC multi-purpose room. This event serves as a media to strengthen the relationship between UPH and its partners, and also as a momentum to keep an open, effective communication so that UPH together with its partners can improve services together.
UPH has had more than 100 partners, and 65 of them came in this gathering. This event was started by Mr. Matthew Malcolm, the dean of FLA (Faculty of Liberal Arts), giving several testimonies from his students that feel blessed by service learning.
?I hope through this event all of our students will become servant leaders and fulfill God?s duty to us that is to become the servant for others.? Malcolm explained.
To give partners an idea of the events that have been conducted by UPH Student Life, a video of the activities and Service Learning Projects (programs related to UPH students? curriculum) was also shown.
According to Andry Panjaitan, Director of Student Life, this event is extremely important for both parties to agree on the same vision and mission so that a healthy synergy between UPH, students, and partners can be achieved and each party can do their job well.
?Through this event, it is our hope that in the future there can be designed a long-term plan, instead of just semester-long ones. Because, if done continually, our plans can be more beneficial and a transformation can happen on a larger scale? Andry added.
Andry also explained that this is the first gathering attended by Korem 052, represented by Letkol Infaltri Leo Sianaga, kasiteritorial korem 052 / WKR. This attendance is to conduct a collaboration in public service with UPH. This collaboration is between UPH, Korem 052, and partners, aiming to increase the quality of life of the Tangerang District citizens.
?Through this service learning program, UPH students are given the opportunity to put the things they have learned into practice and to help people, as one of the forms of learning off-campus. They also have the opportunity to hone their leadership skills by becoming leaders that give an impact to the society. The last thing is how we as citizens can give an impact to this nation?s citizens to glorify God.? Andry finished.
After the presentation, the event progresses with a two-session seminar with the theme ?Professionalism and Social Foundation Management? by Dr. Magdalena Pranata Santoro, S.Th. and ?Leaders with Strategy Style and Situational Approach? by Ir. Tikno Lensufiee, M.Pd. Both of these sessions are chosen after considering the needs of partners they had expressed in last year?s gathering. At the end of the event, participants are given the opportunity to have discussions. The event then closes with dinner. |
