This public event was officially opened by the UPH Rector, Dr. (Hon) Jonathan L. Parapak, M. Eng. Sc., by inviting students and staffs of UPH to shout out an exclamation saying ?No Sex heroes, No Alcohol heroes, No Drugs heroes?. For Jonathan, the young generation such as the students, are heroes as well as lecturers and staffs. ?It is not enough for us just to say No drugs, No Sex and No Alcohol, but today, I encourage all range of UPH to be heroes,? invite the Rector. This event was held to remind people to stay away from drugs, free sex and alcohol addiction and thus make UPH a clean campus that glorifies the Lord.

At the opening of the event, there was a Q&A?s session from students to UPH Leaders, which was represented by Raymond Liu, Ph. D. the President of UPH. Upon responding towards questions related to Indonesia?s culture and the drugs, alcohol and free sex phenomenon, Raymond stated, ?Not only in Indonesia does this happen, now the young generation across the globe have been mainly affected by the secular culture that no longer appreciate the teachings from the old culture, especially from the teaching of God?s Words and it drives us further from morality. Because of that, everyone has to go back to the truth of God?s Words, because only by holding tight to truth can each people stay away from the destructive S.A.D.?

Other than that, upon answering the second question, Raymond explained that the main enemy in facing S.A.D is not the society, but oneself. Because of that, Raymond once again reminded all students to keep their heart and spirituality from being enticed by this era?s seductions. For the third question, in relation with the view against drugs and alcohol users, Raymond stated that oftentimes, drugs and alcohol was used as a runaway from problems. Because of that, he encouraged everyone to face their problems openly and brave. Aside from that, Raymond also stated that UPH specifically has a Counseling Centre and lecturers also pay attention to their students, and they?re ready to be a media for students to share their stories.

To end the Q&A?s session, Raymond also said that the body is God?s temple which must be guarded. One shall not give away their body and mind for useless things. ?Everyone?s life is very short and every individual has to think more about what does God want for us to do and what can we do for God,? Raymond added.

After that, this Stay Away: No S.A.D Be SMART campaign was continued with a pin embedding by UPH Leaders to UPH Student Leaders and also a horn phonation by Raymond Liu, Ph. D.

Fajar explained that the reason why people suffer from AIDS is because they are being apathetic. According to him, when someone is being apathetic, they don?t care about their surroundings, and they tend to seek for justification and not the actual answer for their curiosity. Even more interesting, Fajar would be talking about dilemmatic questions that was often questioned by many young people, where many presumptions were made regarding doing sex before marriage is done for their liking towards one another and it is okay. But as an answer, Fajar stated that the promise which couples make are promises made by human and it is not trustable because as we?re talking about human, because the one that we should believe in is God?s promises.

This talk show session also talked about the adverse effects of AIDS, especially in the deficiency of the body immune system and it also reduce one?s productivity time in achieving their dreams, in working and being involved in the community, all those things could be hindered because of the adverse effects of AIDS. ?What you need to remember is that AIDS is not the end of the world and there is a cure, though it may not heal one completely. Don?t be an apathetic young people, the littlest of our awareness can have an impact for others,? explained Fajar while ending his explanation.

By the end, the committee invited all students to join certain programs which would be held on Wednesday, in a form of a mini talk show with Komnas PengendalianTembakau and also the main event on Thursday, a seminar with BNN. (mt)
