Seminar for Educators is one of the programs in UPH Festival 20 that was given to the lecturers who came to the UPH Festival 20. The seminar was held everyday during the UPH Festival, from August 21 to August 24, 2013, at 08.30 to 12.00 and taking place in the Hope building. This program is an annual event, and for this year, the theme is ?Building student-based Mentoring System? with the speaker Roy Rondonuwu, a lecturer in Communications – Faculty of Social and Political Science. About 60 lecturers from various high schools in Jabodetabek followed the seminar on Friday (23/8).
Building students in the form of mentoring system is one of the ways to support the students in learning. The mentoring system is also a part of holistic education that is being implemented in UPH. In conducting mentoring system, the senior students act as the mentor and the junior students as mentee. When the junior students step into the next level, they will undergo a training to become a mentor and will guide the class below them, which is named mentee. The benefits of student-building based on mentoring system are, aside from focused and structured student activities, students can also make their portfolio and get the experience of being led and being a leader (leadership). In this seminar, Roy Rondonuwu explained that the target of this building is, besides soft-skills development, that it will also develop students? potential. At a young age, the students tend to try everything and try to find their path, and with mentoring, the students? development in a sense will be guided. Apart from parents, lecturers also play an important part in directing the students.
