UPH?s students incorporated in Students? Activity Unit (Unit Kegiatan Mahasiswa or UKM) held the biggest Spring Festival Korea-Japan, which was named Bhom Matsuri. Bhom Matsuri itself means spring for the Bhom and festival for the Matsuri, thus it becomes Spring Festival. Three UKM were involved in this festival; UKM Entrepreneurship led by Nico from Business School (2011), UKM Hana Union (Korea) led by Merry from Faculty of Nursing (2009), and UKM Nihon Utopia (Japan) led by Stivan, Food Technology (2010).

The Bhom Matsuri Festival will be held for one full week, from Monday, April 15, 2013 to Sunday, April 21, 2013 and located at Supermal Karawaci. Various contests such as dance cover, ramen eating, Korean and Japan themed drawing, as well as cosplay will be held at the Atrium Supermal Karawaci. Cash with total up to millions and other prizes are waiting for the winners of these contests. Besides the contest, the festival also prepared with bazaar.

Nico, as the Head of the Event Committee explained that many guests stars are already invited to jazz up the festival such as Playcrew, 4NE1, K com (fx), Imagine, Nest, Jellyfish, Obake, Momiji, and Amakusa. Gugak Sarang and Taiko Tokyo are also invited to the festival for performing the Japanese and Korean dances. Besides guest stars, cooking workshops are also being organized such as Sushi and Bibimbap Making.

?Even though this festival is being held for the first time, it is also one of the biggest events from the UKM, so it can be considered as special. In this special event, we had succeeded to break the MURI Records through the creation of Origami Tree. This tree has 40 thousand leaves that are made from origami paper that were made by the members of the three UKM. You can see the tree at Food court Hall Supermal Karawaci,? said Nico.

The MURI Record Awards will be given on Friday, April 19, 2013 at Food Court Hall Supermal Karawaci. This event cannot be held without the management from the UKM Entrepreneurship, and thus, this event was a pinnacle of the three UKM.

?This festival?s purpose is to serve as a platform for learning and introducing Japan and Korea?s culture. Visitors can experience this by coming and seeing to the festival?s site. MC will also host the events by uttering the greetings and expressions in Japanese and Korean. The visitors can be introduced more to the Japan and Korea?s culture by looking at the objects that are displayed in this event,? explained Nico. (Lat)
