Agreement Signing Between UPH and Murdoch University Friday (18/6) ? UPH Faculty of Law signed a cooperation agreement with Murdoch University, Australia in the Bachelor of Common Law program. This program allows UPH Law students to take the Bachelor of Common Law at Murdoch University in a period of only 1 year. This program is in effect starting academic year 2011/2012, and will be offered to students who have taken 4 semesters, or at least 64 credits at Law Faculty of UPH. This dual degree program is packaged as follows: 4 semesters at UPH, 2 semesters at Murdoch University, and 1 more semester back at UPH to finish the final assignment/project. Hence, students who successfully complete this program will hold two titles automatically, i.e. Sarjana Hukum (SH) and Bachelor of Common Law (BCL). ?This program is a plus point for UPH law graduates, because they are more skilful in two law systems: civil law and common law,? explained Susi Susantijo, the Director of UPH Law Faculty. Moreover, BCL graduates who wish to become lawyers in Australia could continue their study in Juris Doctor program at Murdoch University for only 1 year. ?Normally, it needs 4 years to take the Lawyer program or LLB in Australia, while with this program students will only need 1 more year of study in order to get the Australian lawyer certificates,? added Susi. The MoU signing was done by Gary A. Miller, Ph.D ? UPH Executive Vice Chancellor, and Prof. Gary Martin ? Murdoch University Deputy Vice Chancellor (Faculty, Enterprise and International), witnessed by Prof. Bintan Saragih ? Dean of UPH Law Faculty, and Prof. Gabriel Moens ? Dean of Murdoch University Law School. There were also other representatives from Murdoch University: Associate Prof. Halim Hendrik ? Director of International Relations and Associate Prof. Fernand De Varennes ? BCL Program Chair. UPH Media Relations |
