Lippo Village (18/6) ? Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) and Universitas Padjajaran (Unpad) opened up to the idea of cooperating on their dual degree programs. This was proved by Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing between UPH Rector, Jonathan L. Parapak and Unpad Rector, Ganjar Kurnia on Thursday (11/6) in Unpad campus ? Bandung.
This MoU signing was witnessed by Vice President for External Cooperation & Business Development UPH, Budhi T. Yuwono, UPH and Unpad?s Communication Department Lecturer, Roy Rondonuwu, UPH?s Associate Dean School of Nursing, Jane Freyana, UPH?s Faculty of Medicine lecturer, F.X. Budhianto Suhadi, and other delegations from Unpad.
Parapak and Kurnia both realized that all this time dual degree programs in Indonesia?s universities are usually done in cooperation with abroad universities. Kurnia suggested cooperation between national universities in holding dual degree programs.
?Along with the signing, we agree to share our experiences and to try building cooperation on dual degree programs by using credit transfer system; just like the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) which was developed by European universities in building such cooperations,? said Kurnia.
Parapak asserted that he warmly welcome the idea of developing dual degree program with credits transfer system. ?We certainly are willing to learn more from national and abroad universities. We are hoping to get the best from the most qualified national universities in Indonesia. That is why we build this cooperation with Unpad. Our hope is to bring positive development for our nation,? said Parapak.
Parapak also stated that Unpad had been helping UPH a lot in their academic field, especially in helping the Faculty of Medicine, School of Nursing, and Communication Department of UPH. To reinforce this, both universities had signed another agreement with written approval from Direktorat Jenderal Pendidikan Tinggi (DIKTI) for exchanging part-time lecturers.
?We have had so much help from Unpad lecturers since Unpad has always been one of the center excellences. We are proud to work together with Unpad,? said Parapak.
In this cooperation, both universities will facilitate their faculties? needs by credits exchange programs for several learning subjects and researches.
Meanwhile, Kurnia also stated that this cooperation can bring learning benefits for both universities. Unpad need to change their paradigms in handling their learning programs by getting help from private universities such as UPH to share their global oriented management models.
This cooperation will also be benefit UPH faculties by improving their curriculums to meet standard accreditation, and therefore increase students? interest to study at UPH.
